Fashion Week season is finally over but now is the ideal time to look back at the key handbag trends of the month.
Prada FW18
Handbags are considered one of the most desirable accessories and act as the perfect accent to any look. They also just happen to be a great money spinner for many of the big-name fashion houses.
Bella Hadid with denim Dior Saddle Bag
The season, everyone was talking about covetable fancies such as the Christian Dior Saddle Bag. A remnant of the Galliano era and a nostalgic reminder of Carrie Bradshaw’s fabulous Sex and The City wardrobe, this gorgeous little bag was shown in Paris in various colours and styles, including plain black leather, beaded and with a white and black logo.
Dior Saddle bag FW18
It was all the rage on the street style seen, with my particular favourite of the week being the denim version seen on Bella Hadid in August last year before Paris Fashion Week SS18 even started !!!’
Marc Jacobs FW18
Mini bags were also a popular trend this season, seen hanging around the waist or the neck like a piece of jewellery or a trophy like those at Marc Jacobs.
Valentino FW18
I’m not sure what the hell you can actually fit in these micro bags apart from maybe just a single credit card, but I guess it’s a natural progression from Loewe’s cat face charm jewellery – which I loved – and the excitement of the original belt bag that Clare Waight Keller brought out for her second season at Givenchy.
J W Anderson
Of course, the belt bag itself is the natural evolution of the fanny-pack / hip-pack / bum-bag or whichever other name you choose to call it and there were plenty of these more original bum-bag style models around on the runways.
Ashley Williams
I particularly liked Anna Sui x BED|STU’s 1960’s rustic yellow leather vintage-inspired piece, as well JW Anderson’s double belt bag, Ashley Williams’ furry bum-bag version.
